Alaska bound...

It's time to go! It's our last day before we hit the road, heading north, and it's fair to say all is chaos.

We left New Zealand two weeks ago, pretty excited about the adventure to come. We were really trying to get into the spirit of things...

We arrived at long last at Orcas Island, Washington, where our friend Ken had been storing our bikes. We were greeted not just by Bella Butter Horse and Bucephalus (our steeds), but by an entire shelving unit dedicated to the stuff we'd purchased over the last few months.

Then the reality of all the work to be done set in. Mike spent long hours in Ken's garage prepping the bikes...

Still trying to get into the spirit of the trip :)

In the meantime, Sarah spent long hours in front of the computer trying to wrap up work projects. Sometimes the two mixed, but not often!

Partway through the week, we whipped down to Seattle so Mike could get a plush, cushy, custom-made seat done for his bike. It was an all-day process with lots of trial rides on pink foam.

10 days later, we're back in Victoria, BC. The projects are as done as they are going to get, the bikes are as prepped as they are going to get, and now it is just a matter of fitting all of our stuff somehow onto the two bikes. Hmm, even we can see this is a ridiculous amount of stuff.

We roll out of here northward bound tomorrow morning, 8am sharp.
